Surface design swatches
Four surface-design swatches on an ocean-wave theme.
Each swatch is 10 × 10 inches. The brief allowed only knit materials, with up to 20% woven fabric, and required a fabric manipulation technique on every piece.
The techniques used across the samples are wave smocking, flounces and gathers, pin tucks, shirring, scrunched and coloured tissue, appliqué (including fur), and sequin and bubble embroidery.
